ASHOORA MESSAGE 1433 Hijra

Quaid-i-Millat Jafariya Agha Syed Hamid Ai Shah Moosavi

 

 

Allah says: “O Prophet! Surely We have sent you as a witness, and as a bearer of good news and as a warner, and as one inviting to Allah by His permission, and as a light-giving torch" (Surah Ahzab 45-46). 

 

There is no doubt that the Muslim nation has adopted the Islamic culture and heritage that considers the word ‘Shaheed’ and its meanings and understanding greater than other sayings. ‘Shaheed’ (the martyr) is a holy and pious word that is why he (the martyr) does not need to be given bath or the coffin. Because by presenting his life for the Kalma-e-Haq he has given the witness of Allah’s oneness. The body of the ‘Shaheed’ is pious and on this basis one who kisses martyrdom is buried laced with earth and blood he had gone through. ‘Shaheed’ is that enlightened word that is surrounded by the holy lights. The blood of ‘Shaheeds’ never goes waste. The blood of Shaheed is never sucked by earth rather every blood-drop of him takes the shape of a river as ‘the drops are converted into a river’ and penetrates in the soul and body of the society giving it an eternal life. That is why it is said that the death of the ‘Shaheed’ is the life of the nation. 

There is a saying of Hazrat Ali Ibne Musa Al-Raza (A.S.) that Imam Hussain (A.S.) had stated that once Hazrat Amirul Momineen (A.S.) in his Address was asking people to wage jehad in the way of Almighty Allah. During his address, a young man stood up and requested that Oh, master of the faithfull! Please state the status of those who wage Jihad in way of Allah. The master of the universe (A.S.) said: one day when we were coming back from the Ghazwa Zaat Al-Salasal while I was riding behind the Holy Prophet of Islam (SAAW) on his camel Azbah, I posed the same question before the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH & HHP) that you have asked and he in reply had said that the moment warrior decides to wage jihad in the name of Allah, Almighty Allah forbids the hell-fire in their favour, when they prepare themselves for jihad, Allah becomes proud of their actions amongst the angels and when they leave their families their misdeeds are forgiven. Then after stepping in jihad whatever pious deed they perform, they are rewarded twice. For every day they spent during Jihad reward of one thousand years is written in their account. When they are pitched against the enemies of the religion, spears are raised, arrows are directed to be ready to get loose, the angels surround them and pray for their success and the announcer from the heaven calls out that heaven is beneath the shadow of their swords. Therefore the wounds of swords and spears for  ‘Shaheed’ are more pleasant than the water given in the heat-waves of the hot weather. When a freedom-fighter comes to the earth owing to wounds on his body, Allah Sends his spouse related to Hoor-ul-Ain from heaven to serve him before his body reaches the earth so as to give him the good tidings of his status and dignity. As soon as his body reaches the earth, the earth talks to him what a pious soul that has been alighted from that pious body, so you should know that those blessings are awaiting for you about which neither anyone have seen from his eyes nor heard with his ears, nor anyone imagined about it and Allah declares him as a decoration of the heaven after transforming his soul into a particular body and that soul continues enjoying the blessings of the heaven until the Day of Judgment comes. By God, ‘martyrs’ come to that day with dignity and high status and the Massengers of Almighty alight from their ride in their way to give them respect and become on foot until they reach their particular places. Those people are so much laced with greatness and dignity that every one of them keeps the right to seek forgiveness from Almighty Allah for 70,000 of his family members, relatives, and neighbors and ultimately those people make access to a particular place along with me (the Holy Prophet (PBUH & HHP)) and Khaleel-e-Khuda Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S.) and benefit to see Laqa-e-Wajullah in the morning and in the evening (Tafseer Majmah Al-Biyaan edition 2).

 

This is the status of a common ‘Shaheed’ therefore what would be the status of the personality who is the leader of the Young of Heaven and about whom the Khair-ul-Bashar Ahmed Mustafa (SAAW) said , who is Sawar-e-Dosh-e-Rasool and Farzand of Ali (A.S.) and Batool (S.A.) and who had made the dream of  Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S.) true by presenting sacrifice of his life along with his 72 pious offspring and diehard companions in the hot plain of Karbala rather increased the honour and dignity of the Millat-e-Ibrahimi and the Muslim Ummah to the highest level and won the title of Syed-us-Shuhada.

There is a saying of Imam Hussain (A.S.) that Allah talked about Amar Bil Ma’aroof and Nahi Anil Munkir as first of the obligations because He knows that if these two obligations are fulfilled and settled than all other obligations would be carried out whether they are difficult or easy. These two are the ones that invite people towards Islam and giving those their rights who deserve their rights and make them agree to oppose the oppressors (Tuhfah-tul-Aqool).

 

At another place Imam (PBUH) said, Oh people! It is a saying of the Holy Prophet (SAAW) that one who witnesses that oppressor ruler that he has made the Haram-e-Khuda as Halal, has broken the Paiman-e-Illahi, opposes Sunnat-e-Rasool, commits oppression and sin among men of Allah and even then he does not oppose the same through his deeds or utterances, Allah would definitely put that person in wrath in place of that oppressor king (Maqtal Al-Khwarzmi edition 1).

 

Then at another place said, are you not watching that righteous ness is not being practiced and evil is not being kept away. In this situation, a Momin has the right to be fond of Laqa-e-Illahi (meeting with Allah). (Tuhfah-tul-Aqool).

 

On this basis Hussain (A.S.) had stated: I consider death a blessing and life with the oppressors as painful (Tuhfah-tul-Aqool page 645).

           

Then state his objective for ‘Shahadat’ in these words:

Oh, Allah! You Know my stand is neither for gaining power nor for seeking wealth but I desire to present the matters of Your religion and to bring reforms in Your cities, want to restore law and order for Your oppressed people and desire that duties of Sunnah and commandments are implemented (Tuhfah-tul-Aqool). In this Hadees, the Imam (A.S.) made it clear on the world that religious matters were being violated, there is arson and riot in cities instead of reforms, and the oppressors and have-nots are confronted with problems and difficulties. The same thing was stated another place in these words: My standing against Yazid is not for self-praise, due to stubbornness, to cause riots or oppression but I have come out to reform the Ummah of my grandfather. I desire that Amar Bil Ma’aroof and Nahi Anil Munkir are followed and I desire to follow the seerat of my grandfather Muhammad (SAAW) and my father Ali Waliullah (A.S.). (Maqtal Alkhwarzmi edition 1).

 

Therefore, when Muawiya Bin Abu Sufyan was at the verge of his death, he sent for Yazid and said, I have made many difficult persons agree to be sincere with you but still opposition from three sides is expected and from amongst these three, the most important personality is that of Hussain Ibne Ali Ibne Abi Talib (A.S.). His matter is most critical as he will not accept your allegiance at all, he is most honorable and if he does not become ready by any other means then sword is the last option (Bahar-ul-Anwaar).

            Yazid, following the will of his father, after the death of his father Muawiya Bin Abu Sufyan wrote a letter to the Governor of Madina for seeking his allegiance from Imam Hussain (A.S.) but Hussain (A.S.) bluntly refused the same by saying  a person like me cannot offer allegiance to a person like Yazid.

Therefore, Hussain (A.S.) said goodbye to his grandfather's (SAAW) city on 28th Rajab. Converted Hajj into Umrah on 8th Zilhijj to save the sanctity of Ka’aba and left Makkah and came to Karbala on 2nd Muharram 61 Hijra. They were refused water on 7th Muharram. Hussain (A.S.) allowed his companions to leave if anyone so desires by putting off the lights on the night of tenth Muharram but when the lights were turned on, they all were sitting with their swords on their necks.

Hussain (A.S.), his companions, friends and offspring spent that night in worship. He set out for the Karbala battlefield after the martyrdom of his faithful companions, and pious offspring, and sees that:

Later, he raised his voice for help that shattered the earth and the sky. Cries were raised in Mala-e-Aala. At the same time his eyes met the battlefield and after watching the bodies of his diehard supporters he stated: Oh Habib Ibne Mazahir, Oh Zuhair Ibne Qain, Oh Muslim Ibne Oseja, Oh Qasim (A.S.), Oh Abbas (A.S.), Oh Ali Akbar (A.S.), Oh the brave lions! my brave fighters! I am calling you and why not you reply. I am calling you for help, why you are not responding. Oh fighting jawans! you are sleeping, your heart have become empty of the love for the Imam (A.S.), Oh sincere helpers! Wake up and remove these untidy people from the Harm-e-Rasool. The bodies of ‘Shuhada’ were shaken on his painful voice, a voice from a cut-out throat came that Oh, the grandson of the Holy Prophet (A.S.) the death has made us incapable otherwise ready to sacrifice not a one but a thousand of lives on you.

Later, Hussain (A.S.) came before the oppressor nation, introduced himself to them the last words of which were: “Oh the oppressors! Fear from the wrath of God, it will be the strongest wrath, the time is near when the flames of anger of Allah will surround you.”

 

But that untidy nation did not take his advice seriously and the Imam (A.S.) returned saying and said, then be ready now. I have done all this to fulfill the Hujjat. Now see the war of Nawasa-e-Rasool, thirsty of Karbala, nephew of Jafar-e-Tayyar (A.S.), and the son of Haider-e-Karrar (A.S.). Then he took out the Zulfiqar-e-Haideri and attacked the low-character nation reciting the lion-hearted Rajz about which the English historian writes: I have neither seen from my eyes nor heard from my ears that a person whose relatives, young offspring are slaughtered in front of his eyes, is thirsty for three days, every part of his body is injured could have fought so bravely like Hussain Ibne Ali (A.S.). His lonely attack devastated the enemy’s army that every soldier of theirs was coming down on the other soldiers with fear. Wherever Hussain (A.S.) turned, the enemy forces were running like the swarming locust gets upset in the blowing air.

 

The third attack of Imam Hussain (A.S.) was so severe that the Yazidi forces entered the gate of Kufa while retreating. A large number of them were trampled under the horses. The voice of Al-Amaan, Al-Amaan was coming from all around. When the Imam (A.S.) saw this situation, he stopped his Zuljinah, stayed at a place and threw his eyes around. At the same time an unseen voice echoed in the earth and in the sky. Hussain (A.S.) till how long you will fight. The time of fulfilling your promise has come. Hussain (A.S.) put back his sword into its sheath after listening to that voice and started waiting for ‘Shahadat’ in his desire of Laqa-e-Illahi. The Yazidi forces thought that perhaps Hussain (A.S.) got tired and they started attack after attack rapidly with swords, spears and arrows. Thousands of blood-thirsty people surrounded one oppressed, hungry and thirsty, his clothes were soaking with blood and he was becoming unconscious, his tongue had become dry with thirst. The Imam (A.S.) again raised his voice for help in this helpless condition. Soon after his voice, it was like a Judegmentday in Mala-e-Aala. Gabriel (Ameen) requested in the Bargah-e-Illahi that I cannot see my beloved Hussain (A.S.) in this condition, it was this Hussain (A.S.) for whom I used to take fruits of the heaven, used to rock his cradle, I cannot see Hussain (A.S.) in this state of helplessness. Allah, give me permission. A voice came from the Hejab-e-Qudrat that if My Hussain (A.S.) accepts your help, you may do. Gabriel (Ameen) reached Karbala with Allah’s permission and shaded the head of the Imam (A.S.) with his wings. The Imam (A.S.) felt coolness owing to this shadow so he asked Oh, the creature giving me the shadow who are you who have thought of helping me in this state of helplessness. The voice replied that I am your servant Gabriel. Give me permission so that I may wipe out all your enemies. The Imam (A.S.) gave the same reply that Ibrahim had given when he was being thrown in the fire of Nimrah that I don’t accept as I am fond of Laqa-e-Illahi. Get aside, Gabriel. This is the hour of trial.

            In short, he tied his Amamah and other Taburrakaat with the Zuljinah’s saddle and said, Oh, the faithful horse when your rider (who is also the rider of Dosh-e-Rasool SAAW) comes down from the saddle, it would be your responsibility to deliver these Taburrakaat to the Ahle-e-Harm. It is very difficult to state that how this untidy nation rained him with spears and arrows from all around to the extent that he could not remain on his faithful horse.

He came down to earth saying , after offering the Asr prayers, he put down his head in Sajda-e-Khudawandi that Shimar Zavi Al-Joshan ran his dagger brutaly on the neck of Imam (where the Holy Prophet of Islam used to kiss). The quake shook the earth of Karbala, the sun eclipsed, black winds started blowing all around, the echoes of  started rising in the air. At the time when the knife being run on the Imam’s throat, it was seen that an object came down to earth from the sky and one went from earth to the sky and another started encircling him. The one that came down from the sky was Gabriel. What had been raised from the earth was the Imam’s head on the point of a spear, and the one that started doing Tawaaf around Hussain (A.S.) was his oppressed sister Zainab (S.A.) who was shedding tears and was saying, Wa Muhammada Wa Aliyya, the happy family of my mother Fatima Zehra (S.A.) has been devastated in the plain of Karbala.

 

Imam Hussain (A.S.) made it clear to the world that I have lit the candle of sacrifice so as to create enthusiasm in the hearts of the people that could enlighten the society and turn it into enlightened people and put the soul and life in every person with a renewed vigor and provide the fresh blood to its body. That is why today the whole oppressed world in imbibed with the ‘Shahadat’ of the Imam (A.S.) and his pious and faithful companions. In east, west, north and south, hundreds of years have gone by but the oppressed nations are imbibed with the spirit and enthusiasm even today.

The colonial powers are utilizing all their tactics to bring in their own agenda but the spirit of ‘Shahadat’ inculcated in them by Hussain (A.S.) could not be cooled down by the international chief of colonial powers and their agents. Whereas the oppressed people of Afghanistan, Iraq, Tunis, Egypt, Bahrain, Libya are protesting for their rights, the Mujahideen in Kashmir and Palestine are ahead of them all in this exercise. More than a half century has passed for the struggle of annexation of Al-Quds Al-Sharif and independence of Palestine and Kashmir, prisons had been filled, incidents of murder and arson were made the order of the day, their lives have been made difficult but still the oppressed are not ready to surrender and are declaring upon the satanic world that peace could not be restored to any part of the world unless the rights of the oppressed are honoured and are resolved in the light of the United Nations resolutions and to the desire of the oppressed. Imam Hussain (A.S.) rooted out Yazidiyyat and unveiled the real faces of tyranny and Malookiyyat so as to tell the world that death is always better than life in humiliation and shame. Today if the Muslim Ummah desires to get rid of humiliation and defame then we would have to adopt the Hussaini way of life as every colonial powers could be defeated point blank by following that path.
