RAWALPINDI, March 26: In connection with the announcement made by Quaid-e-Millat-e-Jafariya Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi, in order to protest against the blasphemous act of burning the holy Quran at the hands of Terry Jones, a priest in the church of Florida; Friday has been commemorated as “Youm-e-Hurmat-e-Quran” i.e. the day to memorize the respect of the holy Quran.

On this occasion; several protests against disrespect of the holy Quran have been made under the auspices of religious representatives and the leaders of Tehreek-e-Nafaz-e-Fiqh-e-Jafariya throughout the country. Ulema-e-Karam in their sermons to the Juma prayers, threw light on the respect of the holy Quran and termed the ongoing European conspiracy of disrespecting the Shaa’er Allah (Signs attributed to Almighty Allah) as the biggest threat to the inter-religion harmony and peace. They demanded the international organizations to formulate strict rules to ensure dignity and respect of the divine books including the holy Quran, and all the religions along with their respective founders and heroes, while any kind of disrespect to them must be declared a crime, worth severe punishment. Seminars were held and rallies brought out by TNFJ, in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi to protest against the blasphemous act of American priest that he committed by burning the holy Quran.

Under the auspices of Hayet Talba-e-Islamia, a protest against the act of disrespecting the holy Quran was staged in Satellite Town Rawalpindi which was led by Allama Syed Waqar Hussain Naqvi, Mufti Basim Abbas Zahiree, Maulana Tehzeeb ul Hassan Naqvi, Allama Shehzad Hussain Sindi, and Maulana Aqeel Abbas Kazmi. While addressing to the gathering, Allama Syed Waqar Hussain al Qumi said that had Ummat-e-Muslima punished the blasphemous Rashdi; no one would have dared to demolish Babri Mosque, occupy the Al-Quds, or burn the holy Quran as done by the so called priest of the church of Florida. He further demanded that international organizations must fulfill their responsibilities to prohibit evil forces from disrespecting not only Islam, the holy Prophet of Islam, Heroes of Islam, and divine books, but all the religions of the world. He said that the protection of the respect of the holy Quran is our responsibility and therefore; anything would be sacrificed for this cause. Participants of the protest rally were carrying banners and placards on which, slogans against the disrespect of the holy Quran and statements about the sacredness of the holy books were printed. Afterwards, the participants of the rally dispersed peacefully.
